Virginia Tech's motto is "Ut Prosim" which means 'That I May Serve'. Share how you contribute to a community that is important to you. How long have you been involved? What have you learned and how would you like to share that with others at Virginia Tech?

Soccer has given me some of my closest friends and most unforgettable memories. Last year, I was presented with the opportunity to code a fundraising website for the On the Rise Foundation. This non-profit runs soccer events for underprivileged youth in Ghana by providing them with cleats, apparel, and the chance to play in organized games. After an event, I was sent videos of players thanking us for enabling them to pursue their passion for soccer. I made a lasting impact on a child’s life halfway around the world through a game. At Virginia Tech, I hope to share the unifying power of sports by leading fundraising efforts for greater access to sports equipment in impoverished regions of the world.
