Why do you want to study your chosen major specifically at Georgia Tech?
Inspired by social entrepreneurs like Sal Khan and my own mom, I pursued social entrepreneurship throughout high school. In doing so, I continuously stumbled upon the same question. How? How do I turn English Empowered into a Khan Academy-like platform where students can log on, access a tutor, and improve their English on demand? How do I scale Innovision Education to all public schools? Every line of reasoning led to the same answer, Computer Science. Through the impact I caused, building technical solutions to save thousands of person-hours at my internship at Prakruthi, along with witnessing my entrepreneurial dad use his technical skills to solve countless real-world problems, I realized that Computer Science is precisely how I will further my social entrepreneurial passion. After visiting and soaking in Georgia Tech’s startup-esque vibe, I knew it was the perfect place for me to pursue Computer Science. Tech’s culture of innovation and philosophy of acting to progress society shines through the abundance of opportunities provided. I hope to engage in this, joining “Bits of Good” and immediately applying my skills to support other non-profit organizations. Eventually, I would utilize my prior pitching experience to introduce a new initiative on “Demo Day.” In this, I, along with like-minded peers interested in technology’s applications in the education field, would build on InnoVision Education, developing online learning platforms providing interactive real-world STEM education for public schools. Through specialty courses such as Engineering for Social Innovation and Technology and Sustainable Community Development, I will gain unparalleled hands-on experience in developing sustainable solutions and specialized technical knowledge, helping me refine and implement my ideas. Moreover, participating in distinctive opportunities such as the Inventure Challenge will help me broaden my entrepreneurial experience concurrently, providing the funding and mentorship needed to jumpstart this new tech-based version of Innovision Education.

I peered over the board, shaking the dice in my hands and praying for anything but an 11. The dice clattered and came to a stop. 11. My sister leapt up with glee, taunting me as I grudgingly dragged my character from Atlantic Avenue to Park Place, a property practically sagging under the weight of four houses. “$1400!” she exclaimed, laughing at my paltry $370. I bit my tongue instead of hurling...

I have lost track of how many times I have rejected this essay, and, although it can be discouraging to re-draft it so many times, I don’t give up. So, I open up a new document on my computer, clear my head, and start fresh. I close my eyes and let my mind wander, stepping back out onto a familiar, windy beach. As the sky greys, clouds bring in light showers, scattering vacationers seeking she...
